The first thing you should do when you are locked out of your device is back it up.

Back Up Your iOS Device:

To do so, connect your device to the computer and launch iTunes. Then, select your device from the top left menu. Next, click on Back Up Now. Once your device has backed up, you should see the date and time when your device was backed up under Latest Backup.

Once you have backed up your device, you have two options:

Erase your iPhone or iPad with iTunes

If you have physical access to your iPhone, sync it regularly with a computer and have that computer nearby, this may be the easiest option. And you can restore your device. This will erase the device and its passcode.

Erase your iPhone with recovery mode

This is your only option if you’ve never synced your phone with iTunes or iCloud.

# Connect your iOS device to your computer and open iTunes.

#While your device is connected, force restart it:

  On an iPhone X, iPhone 8, or iPhone 8 Plus:

 On an iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus:

On an iPhone 6s and earlier, iPad, or iPod touch:

# Now, you will get a prompt for Restore or Update. Tap on Restore.

Points to Ponder: Just in case, the process takes more than 15 minutes, your iPhone will exit recovery mode, and you will have to repeat the steps mentioned above again. Once the process is completed, set up your device.
